In Villers-la-Ville, at the centre of the village on its rocky hillock, the Notre-Dame parish church was built on the foundations of a large 13th century Romanesque chapel erected by the Lords of Marbais.
It still boasts a robust square Romanesque tower (1-metre thick walls) dating from the 11th – 12th centuries. The nave collapsed in 1923 and was rebuilt in 1925 in a Neo-Romanesque style by the architect Pepermans.
The artistic treasure of this church is mainly made up of the two finely sculpted reredos dating from 1470 and 1538, one representing the Nativity and the other the life of the Virgin Mary.
The fifteen windows of the church are all made of stained glass, mostly modern made by Brussels craftsman F. Crickx (1893-1979).
The organ was purchased, pipe by pipe, by the inhabitants and friends of the church.
